I am happy to say I have found a version of Monopoly that I really enjoy in Monopoly Deal. I am not a fan of the Monopoly board game, I always found it dragged on for far too long and tended to cause a lot of arguments about the rules. Gameplay: Monopoly Deal is simple to learn with some great variety in the action cards to keep it interesting Pass Go – Can be used to draw two more cards.Multi-coloured Rent – Can be used to charge rent for a property colour of your choice.It’s My Birthday – Charge all other players 2m.Just Say No! – Can be played any time to cancel the effect of an action card played by another player.Forced Deal – Enables you to exchange one of your property cards with another player.House/Hotel – Can be added to a full coloured property set to increase rent charged.Double the Rent – Double the amount charged for rent.The amount charged depends on how many properties you have in your coloured set This can only be used if you have properties matching the colours on the rent card. Rent – Charge rent corresponding to one of the colours on the rent card.Debt Collector – Take 5m from a player of your choice.Deal Breaker – Steal an entire coloured property set from another player.Sly Deal – Steal any one property from another player, provided it is not part of a complete set.To win a player must make three sets of different coloured property cards. There are multi-coloured property cards (can be placed in two different coloured property sets) and wild cards (can be placed on any coloured property set). Property Cards – These can be played in front of each player to create coloured sets of property cards. We will run through the types of action cards further below Action Cards – These allow a player to perform a particular action if played into the centre or can be banked as money if placed in your bank pile.They can be used to pay other players for money owed due to action cards played (rent, debt collector etc) Money Cards – These have either a 1m,2m,3m,4m,5m or 10m value and can only be placed in your bank pile.There are three different types of cards in Monopoly Deal: What are the different types of cards in Monopoly Deal? End their turn and discard down to seven cards if they have more than seven cards in their hand.Draw two cards, or draw five cards if they have no cards in their hand.It is just so simple and quick to get started. The remaining cards are placed in the centre of the table. Shuffle all the cards together (excluding the rule guides) and deal five cards to each player. You can set up Monopoly Deal in only a few minutes. To win Monopoly Deal you must collect three different complete sets of coloured properties. I am not a fan of Monopoly so I was keen to see if they managed create a leaner and more enjoyable game, read on to find out if they succeeded. Designed by Katharine Chapman, Monopoly Deal is an attempt at distilling Monopoly into a simple and fast paced card game version for the whole family to enjoy. As popular as it is there are a few downsides, it can drag on for a very long time and tends to cause a lot of disagreements. Hasbro’s Monopoly is an incredibly popular board game that has spawned numerous variations.
